How to shoot and edit weddings {day to night}
Suena Presets Night has been designed to help blend the appearance of natural light photography and flash photography by using consistent color tones from day to night, so you can deliver a seamless gallery.
But how do you change your shooting style when the sun goes down? Everything starts in camera. For wedding receptions, you often don’t have control of your bride and groom’s “perfect placement” or control over the DJ lights. But we’re here to help you ease that transition, so you can enjoy the reception like everyone else, and most importantly, capture all the great moments.
Tip 1: Stop stressing.
Accept that your clients standards of a transition to flash are not as high as yours and don't stress too hard over a perfect seamless transition.
Tip 2: Keep equipment simple.
Usually there is not enough time at this moment in a wedding schedule to set up complicated lighting systems. You can do that later during dinner, then ask the couple to execute a special photo. For too long we were worried about having the latest and greatest gizmos to get that complicated candid shot. It proved to be less frustrating and much more consistent to shoot the transition period with simple reliable techniques and equipment. Go with what you know works and you won't miss a cute real moment. Save the amazing flash setup for later once you're in control of the action.
Tip 3: Have Go-To Night Settings.
Let your aperture adjustment be your main tool. You likely can set and forget your shutter speed, ISO, and flash strength in these high action moments. This way you only have to adjust your f-stop allowing you to focus more on your moving subjects and changing environmental light.
With these tips you'll thrill clients because they won't notice a difference from day to night photos in their galleries. But just as important it will save yourself time when applying your presets so you can do something cool like make root beer floats or pet a lama.
