How To Shoot Wedding Photos With a Light, Bright and Airy Style in 3 Steps
You might be wondering, “How do I shoot my wedding photos to achieve a light, bright, and airy style”. Well, look no further friend, I’ve got you covered.
It is very important that you show consistent-looking photography work if you’re going to build a successful photography business. In fact, it’s maybe the single MOST IMPORTANT thing.
Here’s how I shoot weddings in 3 steps to achieve a consistent style, that’s perfect for creating a light and airy photography look:
Shoot in as consistent light as possible.
For a light and airy style, you want even skin tones, glowing light and beautiful, low contrast colors. For this, I usually look for shaded areas like covered patios, next to windows or backlit light. Flash in the day light, will not give you a light and airy look. Natural light is recommended and I avoid direct, harsh light when possible.
Shoot underexposed.
This may sound totally counter-intuitive, right?! Wrong. Shooting underexposed allows you to retain details and color in the highlights and sky, that you can bring back in post with editing. You also get gorgeous creamy skin tones by underexposing your shots first, and lifting the exposure later. I usually shoot 1 to 1.5 stops underexposed.
Choose a light and airy preset.
This will give you consistent results and is made for creating that look. I use Sueña Presets, and it gives me consistent light and airy tones from day to night.
There are 3 steps I know you can master, and you’ll be on your way to light and airy perfection and a full calendar in no time.
Happy Shooting!
