How to Create a Successful Wedding Photography Business
This is a big topic friends, probably bigger than what this blog post can hold. But acheiving success in the wedding photography industry is possible, even when it feels like the industry is over-saturated with photograpers.
I’ve been shooting full-time in wedding photography for 10 years, and success did not happen over night. But now, I receive several wedding inquiries a day, and I’m lucky enough to choose my clients and locations.
I wanted to share with you the MOST important thing to achieve success in the wedding photography industry.
Consistency! Hold on, hear me out.
Consistency builds your brand, your style, your reputation and trust with clients!
You have to be painfully (sometimes even boring and predictably consistent) in every single thing you do in your buiness, even in a creative business like photography. This is by far the biggest key to success when building and maintaining your photography business.
And i’m going to let you in on a little secret: You don’t have to be the most naturally gifted or talented. Clients want to know exactly what they’re going to get and they want to trust you through the entire process from booking to gallery delivery.
How do you stay consistent? Look no further:
5 ways to be consistent and build a successful photography business:
Have a consistent booking process for each client.
I use ShootQ to lead my clients through booking, from reserving their date, signing the contract and paying their deposit.
Streamline Your business.
I use customizeable email templates throughout my entire process for frequently asked questions, replies or questions for my clients. Every client gets the same treatment, policies remain the same for everyone, and my customer service remains consistent (even on days when I’m not feeling so customer service-y).
I’ve actually packaged all of my email templates, client questionnaires and more for you to use in your own biz here at The Wedding Business Bundle.
Shoot in the most similar light possible.
Not always possible, but I always try to shoot in shaded or backlit situations to give me a consistent light and airy look.
Edit consistently.
Don’t throw in creative curveballs that fall outside your brand. Your clients hired you for a specific style and try to stick with it as much as possible. I use Sueña Presets, to give me a consistent light and airy, sun-kissed, dreamy look.
Deliver beautiful finished galleries.
Using a consistent and aesthetically beautiful gallery system (like Pixieset) where your clients can download both high-resolution for printing and web-sized for their social media.
If you follow a consistent path, you’ll build your reputation and trust and an inbox full of eager potential clients.
Happy shooting!
